AMBER PENN
Architectural and NatHERS Assistant
Amber completed the Bachelor of Design (Architecture) with Distinction at the University of Newcastle in 2016. Since then Amber also completed a Permaculture Design Course at the Kul Kul Farm in Bali in 2017, the course was very hands on and included workshops on bamboo construction and natural render.
During her studies, Amber participated in a Cultural Crossroads of Architecture study tour in The Philippines. Students of Newcastle University and Saint Louis University (Philippines) collaborated in small groups to design disaster resistant family dwellings using local affordable materials.
Amber aligns with the ethos of care for the Earth and care for the people and is passionate about designing indoor and outdoor spaces to improve the quality of life for those that inhabit them while incorporating sustainable practices. Amber also has an interest in furthering her understanding of sustainable building materials by attending some short courses in the future, such as hemp masonry, straw bale and bamboo construction.
Since joining Prudence Bowe, Amber has undertaken training in software programs that simulate and analyse the thermal performance of Australian homes to obtain a NatHERS star rating.
